Barnaby's parnter, both at work and in life. They didn't get along at first, but their relationship has changed a lot since their early days of fighting crime together. Despite their differences, they actually have a lot in common, and Barnaby trusts Kotetsu more than anyone. They tend to bicker like an old married couple these days, though it's mostly an indication of how comfortable they are with each other. That's not to say that Kotetsu doesn't drive Barnaby up the wall sometimes, especially with his tendency to hide his problems, but at the end of the day there's nowhere else he'd rather be than at his partner's side.
Acquaintances
They've technically spoken twice, but because of Mark's secret identity, Barnaby doesn't quite realize it. They had a lengthy discussion about super heroes in their respective worlds. Barnaby doesn't have much of an opinion one way or the other, though he can appreciate someone who's willing to listen to someone before making any hasty judgments. Since they're both super heroes, there's a chance this war they're supposed to fight will have them cooperating in the future. As a result, Barnaby is interested in keeping their interactions relatively amicable, but as of now he's not compelled to try to maintain any kind of relationship.
When Barnaby first came across Korra, she was trying to sort through a sudden bout of amnesia. Empathizing with her confusion on some level, he offered a little practical advice. Now that she's recovered, they're on fairly decent terms, especially since Korra offered him a job at her dojo. They're technically co-workers at the Brazen Turtle, but, as far as Barnaby is concerned, his possible position at the dojo kind of makes her his boss too. She seems to have a good eye for martial arts, since she quickly recognize Barnaby's strong kickboxing abilities. Aside from that, he doesn't have any strong opinions, although she does strike him as someone who's a bit short-tempered, albeit confident and self-assured.
There's a lot about Tony that's of interest to Barnaby. He made his own powersuit, owns his own company, is an engineering genius on par with Saito, and obviously wields plenty of influence in Keeliai. Should his suit need maintenance, Barnaby knows who to talk to, that's for sure. On a more personal level, Barnaby thinks engineering is really cool, so he admires what Tony does. As someone who would have become a robotics engineer had his life gone down a different path, Barnaby has an interest in using this opportunity to broaden his horizons by learning a little more about the field. He's considering approaching Tony for a position at his company, so this guy is definitely someone who stays on Barnaby's radar.
First met when Barnaby asked for hair stylist recommendations. The guy apparently has a broad skill set, including making clothes. That's convenient, because Barnaby knows he's probably going to have to commission someone to help build his wardrobe up from scratch. Bro is kind of an eccentric, but Barnaby's worked with his fair share of odd ducks before, so that isn't a problem. The constant come-ons don't really faze him, either; in fact, Barnaby's not above playing along a little if it benefits him somehow. (Barnaby is going to silently judge those ugly puppets, though, sorry.)
Kotetsu's neighbor, and the...spirit of winter. If it wasn't for Kotetsu's insistence that the guy was for real, Barnaby probably wouldn't have been able to hear or see him as quickly as he did. Since he lives near Kotetsu and has a variety of interesting abilities, he registers on Barnaby's radar more than he would otherwise. Consequently, he's willing to interact with him with no concrete motive behind it, unlike most of the people in Keeliai. Barnaby can't say he cares for the way Jack seems to flinch a little at the word "responsibility". On the other hand, he's also under the impression that Jack isn't completely grounded in who he is or his purpose in life, so he's willing to offer some constructive advice, for whatever it's worth.
First met when Monet was more than helpful with offering hair stylist recommendations. Thorough, succinct, and efficient -- all qualities that Barnaby finds refreshing when interacting with people. She also seems to know the area really well, and is likely a good source of information. That's why Barnaby has taken some interest in her. Because of her help in getting acclimated, Barnaby is willing to pay her a visit from time to time if she wants a chess partner, and would likely agree to help out with other smaller favors if she has them.
An apparent expert in "dream share" technology who offered his assistance after several foreigners developed amnesia. Barnaby is fairly certain Arthur's intentions are good, especially since the man has little to gain by doing something under-handed here in Keeliai. Since first meeting, the two have developed a distantly polite, professional relationship, and Arthur has offered to help Barnaby resolve some of his personal issues through dream share. It's a mutually beneficial arrangement which has already paid off for Barnaby, since Arthur has given him some training in how to protect his mind in the future. Despite the complex nature of what they're doing, their interactions with each other are generally straightforward and to-the-point, just how Barnaby prefers.
To be honest, Barnaby doesn't have an opinion of Ellie. They got to talking partly because they arrived at the same time. Barnaby also suspects that she may not have any parents, which actually leaves him feeling a little bit concerned for her well-being. Of course, she's surrounded herself with several people since they first talked, so Barnaby doesn't feel as compelled to approach her. Still, Barnaby would be willing to assist her if she ever needed his help with something.
